Wigmore School – Celebration Evening – Wednesday 4th November
Wigmore High School welcomed back its former Year 11 students and parents for the school’s annual Celebration Evening on Wednesday 4th November. Certificates and prizes were distributed by this year’s Guest Speaker, Dr Ruth Brinton, former Deputy Principal at Hereford 6th Form College. Dr Brinton was joined by three ex-Wigmore students who spoke about their careers and their lives since leaving Wigmore.
In his speech, Mr Curtis, Headteacher, reminisced about the students’ time at the school and congratulated them on their outstanding achievements in the summer GCSE exams with 78% of pupils achieving 5 A*-C grades including English and maths. This Year 11 cohort also achieved the school’s best ever progress results with 90% of pupils in English and 91% of pupils in maths achieving the expected three levels of progress. He also mentioned their superb commitment to the wider life of the school including their sporting achievements and their contribution to the creative arts. Finally, Mr Curtis thanked the students for their hard work, commitment, sense of humour and politeness during their time at the school. He wished them well for the future and asked them to keep in touch with the school.
