Welcome to Wigmore School Academy Trust
Wigmore Academy Trust is a special place. Tucked into a beautiful corner of the Herefordshire countryside, our Nursery, Primary and High schools are renowned in the county for providing an exceptional quality of education for children in a warm, friendly and well-disciplined environment.
The schools have existed for over 50 years, federating in 2008; academising in 2011 under the umbrella of one Academy Trust; and establishing a Nursery in 2012. They are routinely recognised locally and nationally as exceptional centres of education. For example, in 2022 Wigmore High School was the highest performing school in Herefordshire according to the headline ‘Progress 8’ measure of performance. Both schools feature regularly in the top 20% of performing schools in the country for many attainment measures and attainment in reading, writing and mathematics at Wigmore Primary school for Key Stage 2 pupils was in the top 6% nationally in 2023.
As well as providing a high-quality, broad and balanced education, Wigmore devotes time to developing the whole child. Children enjoy trips to exciting destinations such as Switzerland, France and Spain. Many take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, others enjoy skiing in Andorra. They travel to museums, art galleries and theatres across the nation and take part in a range of sporting events with schools from within and outside the county. These are the memories that stay with us all as we grow up and we want to make sure that Wigmore pupils have an abundance of them to cherish.
Many students travel from outside of our catchment area, drawn by our all through 3 to 16 curriculum where staff work together in all phases of education to ensure that children’s work in our Primary School is built on and developed as they move up to the High School. Our admission criteria to High School ranks children attending our Primary School above other children in the catchment area, making it easier for them to secure a place at our High School, which is often oversubscribed. In order to help more parents make Wigmore a viable option, we provide a range of bus routes, either through the Local Authority or (at a subsidised rate) via our own transport service. These services carry many primary as well as secondary aged children to school each day.
