Drama is a creative subject which offers all students the chance to work with their imagination and ability to communicate, whilst developing skills of tolerance and empathy: all of which are useful tools for life beyond the classroom.
At KS3 pupils have one hour per week of Drama lessons and at GCSE there are five hours in a two week timetable. Pupils receive workshops, give performances and go on theatre visits. A more detailed breakdown of KS3/KS4 courses can be found below.
Drama is a popular and much valued subject within the school and as well as curricular experience we offer enrichment activities such as a bi-annual large scale production. Taking part in a joint creative venture like a school production can be a hugely rewarding and uplifting experience with memories that last a lifetime. Our past school productions have given many pupils the opportunity to take part in musicals such as Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, Fiddler on The Roof ,Guys and dolls and Oliver. There has also been opportunity for pupils to get involved in technical aspects of theatre such as sound work ,lighting design ,costume and stage management roles. In addition, the Drama Department takes part in concerts and showcases throughout the school year. Above all ,our aim is to develop enjoyment and enthusiasm for theatre and creative process in every student.
