Performing Arts

Wigmore High School believes that the Performing Arts provide an invaluable opportunity to foster confidence, self-awareness and respect for others. Every student is given the opportunity to participate in three Performing Arts disciplines. Talented young people can express themselves in Drama, Musical Theatre and Dance. These separate areas are integrated for the bi -annual large scale musical production .There are also opportunities for young people to showcase their performance talents separately in spring, Christmas and end of year Performing Arts showcase concerts. The school believes that every child should be nurtured, irrespective of ability and opportunities to take part in the Performing Arts are available to all.

Oliver our school Production

Oliver! is an English musical, written by Lionel Bart. The story is based upon the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Dickens once said that “He wished to show in little Oliver the principle of good surviving through every adverse circumstance and triumphing at last.” The book and the musical are very different but the central idea of good versus evil runs through both versions of the story. It has a rich and varied score with some rousing showstopper songs and vibrant, memorable characterisation. To bring this wonderful show to life requires a strong cast and a committed team .We are privileged to have both for this production.  Thank you so much to everyone for all your skills and time. There is a rich tradition of a bi-annual school production in Wigmore High School and this year, as in previous years there was a great enthusiasm for pupils to create and perform together with 70 children taking part. So welcome to our school production of Oliver! We hope you enjoy our show!
