Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Qualifying Expedition 2019

Training over the last year with year 10 students finally culminated in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Qualification Expedition on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May, 2019.

In their walking teams, the 40 students ascended Pole Bank in the Long Mynd. Using their own maps from the eDofE website, and great teamwork, they navigated their way to a campsite near Womerton, and were assessed against the legendary Duke Of Edinburgh '20 conditions'. Ably supervised by their staff, the assessors reported back on good navigation and team spirits, and a very well organised overnight camp. All the groups cooked themselves delicious meals, and were 'chirpy cheerful', even under the weight of their complete camping gear in their rucksacks.

Drizzly rain on Saturday morning didn't dampen their spirits, and tricky navigation back to Carding Mill Valley was negotiated ably by all the teams. We look forward to these pupils moving onto Silver soon.
