Wigmore Award
At Wigmore High School we want all of our pupils to be noticed for what they do and the value that they add to both our local community and the wider world. As such we want to celebrate the effort and achievements of all of our young people by giving them the opportunity to gain a Wigmore Award each year.
The certificates gained will enable the young people to show a consistent and varied contribution to school life over their 5 years at Wigmore High School. These can be used as evidence to future colleges or employers, as well as empowering each and every pupil to realise that they have the potential and skills for life in the real world.
What are the awards?
Each year pupils can work towards 4 different award levels:
BRONZE 5 achievements in at least 4 categories
SILVER 10 achievements in at least 5 categories
GOLD 15 achievements in at least 6 categories
PLATINUM significantly exceeding the gold requirements
What are the categories?
The categories are based on the character traits and values that form the root of our school values; these are used as the basis of our tutor time activity programme and ethics lessons. There are several different achievements in each of the categories and these change within the categories each year.
The categories are: Attendance / Punctuality, Tutor Time, Civic, Intellectual, Moral, Performance and Effort / Behaviour in class
How do pupils get their achievements recognised?
Pupils will take responsibility for getting their achievements signed off by asking the relevant member of staff, form tutor or Head of Key Stage to sign and date their achievements.
At the end of the year the final awards are presented to the pupils and they have a year-group related badge to wear on their uniform during the following year.
