Iceland 2025
A Magical Trip to a World of Fire and Ice
The English, Maths and Geography staff team led pupils from Year 10 and Year 11 on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to Iceland. Flying from London Stansted to Keflavik, we began our journey by exploring Reykjavik before travelling out to witness the country’s dramatic landscapes and natural wonders.
Our itinerary took us through the Golden Circle and beyond: the thundering waterfalls of Gullfoss and Skogarfoss, the spectacular eruptions at Geysir, the black beaches of Vik, and the mighty glaciers.
We also experienced the tranquillity of bathing at the Secret Lagoon and the unforgettable sight of the volcanic eruption swallowing the town of Grindavik.
Evenings brought their own magic, with pupils staying up late to catch the breathtaking Northern Lights dancing across the sky. Our group also enjoyed sampling Icelandic supermarkets, as well as browsing traditional tourist shops for keepsakes.
Our accommodation at Hotel Cabin in Reykjavik was fantastic, giving us a warm and welcoming base for our explorations.
The trip of fire and ice was at times mesmerising, at times soul-shaking – and left a powerful impression on every single one of us.
