The EYFS requires Early Years Practitioners to observe children whilst engaging in play based activities. Your Key Person is responsible for recording such experiences to help them plan for future activities to enhance your child’s learning and development. Information will be collected and recorded in children’s individual SeeSaw account. This will be available for you and your child to see at any time. Your contributions to SeeSaw are greatly appreciated and are valuable to help us build a whole picture of your child. Observations may include, photographs, art works, dialogue and ‘snap shots’ of play.

Your child’s first assessment against the EYFS will be within the first half term of them starting at Wigmore. These assessments allows your child’s Key Person to tailor play based activities to suit their developmental needs. Assessments will be carried out termly which will be shared with you at parent evenings and your contributions are welcome. A final transition assessment, prior to your child attending Oak Class (Year R) is completed in the Summer Term. This will also be shared with the Reception Class Teacher. This assessment informs the teacher of your child’s development and learning as they enter into their Reception year at Wigmore Primary School.
