Laurel Class
Class Teacher: Miss Bulman
In Laurel Class, children are encouraged to be enthusiastic and creative learners whilst demonstrating that they can take responsibility for their learning. We aim to inspire the children and encourage them to challenge themselves in a safe and engaging environment.
Laurel Class have English and mathematics lessons every morning. Other areas of the curriculum will be linked to the geography or history topic and topics may overlap into different half terms. Topics are taught using a range of strategies to ensure that all children are able to access and enjoy their learning.
This year our topics are as follows:
Topic One – Ancient Egyptians
Topic Two – Just around the Riverbend
Topic Three – Where does our food come from?
Topic Four – United Kingdom
Topic Five – Stone Age to Iron Age
The children will also have some areas of the curriculum taught by high school staff. Laurel Class will have P.E. lessons twice a week either outside or in the school hall.
Children in Laurel Class will receive weekly spellings and number facts to learn and are encouraged to read regularly at home every night. There will also be optional pieces of homework per half term that the children can complete. Optional homework along with spellings will be posted on the class Seesaw page.
