Oak Class

Class Teacher: Miss Bufton

In Oak Class, children are encouraged to be explorative learners. We encourage the children to learn through a practical and investigative approach.

Reception Children in Oak Class follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum which focuses on a play-based approach to learning. The Year One children in Oak Class follow the National Curriculum.

All areas of the curriculum are taught through engaging topics. This year our topics are as follows:

1. Autumn Term One – All About Me
2. Autumn Term Two – Celebrations
3. Spring Term One – Dinosaur Planet
4. Spring Term Two – Under the Sea
5. Summer Term One and Two – Come Dine With Me

These topics are taught using a range of creative approaches to ensure all learning needs are met. PE is taught once a week either outside or in the school hall. Forest School is taught once a week. Learning within the school grounds is also encouraged through outdoor learning across a range of subjects.

Children in Oak Class are encouraged to read at home everyday. They will also be given a choice of homework to complete from a topic menu. In addition, Year One children will receive weekly spellings.
