Cherry Class
Teachers: Mrs Morgan and Mrs Tarling
As we welcome pupils into their first year of Upper Key Stage Two, we encourage members of Cherry Class to become independent and responsible learners whilst nurturing them towards becoming inquisitive and well-rounded individuals. We aspire for pupils to show engagement in all lessons and work to the best of their ability. Our aim is to motivate our children and inspire them in their learning to enable them to reach their full potential.
Members of Cherry Class have a wide and engaging curriculum. They take part in daily maths and English lessons and access the foundation subjects throughout the week as well as taking part in forest school and whole class instrumental tuition at set periods throughout the year. In addition, Cherry Class receive French lessons from staff at Wigmore High School.
Topics this year are as follows:
Autumn i: Glorious Greeks
Autumn ii: Discover the Alps
Spring: The reign of the Saxons and Vikings
Summer i – Our Oceans
Summer ii – Deep in the desert
As we begin to prepare children for their transition to high school, Cherry Class are set weekly maths and grammar homework. In addition, they are expected to learn their weekly spellings and times tables. We also expect that children indulge themselves in reading books on a daily basis and foster a love of reading which we aim to develop in every child.
