Elm Class

Class Teacher: Miss Williams

Elm Class is a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class. Our aim in Elm Class is to create a friendly, purposeful and safe space for children to learn.

We want children to make as much progress as possible and aim to do this through an exciting and engaging curriculum.

We make cross curricular links through topics and aim to give the children as much first-hand experience as possible through trips and visits.

Our topics for this academic year are:

Autumn One: The Moon Landings Autumn Two: Weather Experts Spring One: Full Steam Ahead Spring Two: What a Wonderful World! Summer One: To the Rescue Summer Two: Let’s Explore Shanghai!

These topics are taught using a range of creative approaches to ensure all learning needs are met. PE is taught twice a week either outside or in the school hall. Learning within the school grounds is also given a high priority. The children have the opportunity to explore our extensive outdoor environment through a range of subjects and will also have the opportunity to take part in Forest School sessions.

Children in Elm Class are encouraged to read as much as possible at home. This will be in addition to weekly times tables and spellings. They will also be given a choice of homework to complete from a homework menu.
