Sycamore Class
Teacher: Mr Sallis
As the oldest year group in the school, the children in Sycamore Class are encouraged to be the role models of the school, setting the standards and expectations we expect in all aspects of school life. Children in Sycamore Class become more responsible learners, show engagement in all lessons and work to the best of their ability at all times. Our aim is to motivate pupils to reach their full potential and inspire them to have a positive attitude towards learning.
Children have daily maths and English lessons. Our English lessons are inspired by breaking news stories, by the whole class reading book or other interesting and relevant resources relating to the curriculum. More information on this can be found on the Long Term Plan.
This year, our themes for Geography and History are as follows:
- Climate Zones
- Victorian Britain
- Crime and Punishment
- Brazil
All lessons will be taught by primary school staff except a French lesson which will be delivered by staff from the High School. Please see the long term plan for more details about other subjects.
It is expected that children will learn their spellings and times tables (using TTRS) and read for approximately 20 minutes an evening – this could be independently or with a member of the family (just remember to put it into the school planner). There are also other engaging activities in their planner and on SeeSaw. It is expected that children choose at least two of these activities to complete to further develop their knowledge
