SEND Interventions

  • WHS Catch-Up WHS Catch-Up WHS Catch-Up Catch-up is a bespoke intervention to enable Year 7 pupils that did not reach the expected standard in the KS2 SATS in either Maths or Reading to “catch-up” with their peers.
  • WHS Lexia Learning WHS Lexia Learning WHS Lexia Learning Lexia is a web-based Independent Learning System (ILS) for children with reading ages at least two years below their chronological age.
  • WPS Power of Two WPS Power of Two WPS Power of Two Power of 2 enables anyone to make progress with their maths. It teaches all the mental maths required by the new Mathematics Curriculum.
  • WPS Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Rapid Catch Up WPS Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Rapid Catch Up WPS Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Rapid Catch Up Ensures every child in Year 2 or above who cannot read at age-related expectations gets urgent, targeted support so that they can access the curriculum and enjoy reading as soon as possible.
  • Toe by Toe Toe by Toe Toe by Toe Toe By Toe is designed for anyone who finds reading difficult. This includes weak readers who struggle to decode or those with dyslexic difficulties.
  • WHS Rapid Reading WHS Rapid Reading WHS Rapid Reading Rapid Plus enables struggling readers to see themselves as 'real readers' for the first time and grow in confidence across a range of their subjects.
  • WHS Mentoring WHS Mentoring WHS Mentoring Mentoring can take on many forms and is very much focussed on the individual needs of the pupil, such as learning and/or social needs. Identified pupils are mentored by key mentoring staff.
  • WHS Support Group WHS Support Group WHS Support Group The Support Group generally has between 7 and 15 students. They are allocated additional supported time in school which allows them to focus on achieving their potential in a reduced number of courses.
  • WHS Homework Club WHS Homework Club WHS Homework Club Lunchtime homework clubs are provided Monday – Thursday. After school homework clubs are provided by invitation.
